Gun violence, particularly gang-related and concentrated in the north part of the city, has plagued Omaha, Nebraska, in recent years. In the year 2015, there were more homicides in Omaha than there were in major cities including Boston and Seattle.

"This is something I'm going to walk around with for the rest of my life, knowing someone took my son's life - for nothing," said Gary Johnson. His son Garion was 19-years-old when he was shot and killed in front of his home. Garion is the second son that Johnson has lost to gun violence.

The violence has left 3-year-old Jay’Ceon Foster without a mother or a father. It has left 20-year-old Tyrus Harris paralyzed from the waist down. And for every person killed, a family is left to mourn the absence of their loved ones who were taken far too soon.
